What makes a Successful Black and White Photo?
Of course any photo should be well composed, sharp or blurred by design, have proper exposure, it should have content that stimulates the viewer and possibly multi levels of thinking to keep the viewer interested, guessing and/or busy discovering additional meaning.
Additional black and white photographs should have full contrast. In fact it’s desirable to have a black and somewhere a white in the image. If a friend asks you to take their portrait in black and white have them ware a white shirt and a black sweater. Their skin will give you your gray and you’ll have your successful full tonal range image.
