This is a great example of using the ‘visualization technique‘. My goal was to create a holiday card that featured my children that I could then send out to family and friends to show how much they had grown over the past year.

I also decided I wanted to shoot it in black and white, so to ensure a strong contrast in my shot, I had the kids wear only black, white and gray clothing. Then we needed a message so I asked the kids create a sign we could use. To ensure their cooperation and center their emotions for the shot, we hiked for 15 minutes to get to this spot I had scouted earlier.

The DECISIVE MOMENT came when they all gave me this smile!
